Die Beurteilung von Faktenchecks nach dem Äußerungsrecht

Fact-checking has established itself as a journalistic format for correcting misinformation. Yet it also raises tensions between fact checking and expressing one’s opinions. This work situates fact-checking results within the framework of freedom of expression and personal rights. It analyzes the format’s function in public discourse, taking into account legal, media, and social science perspectives. Based on this, practical journalistic standards of care are developed, which can be used to legally evaluate this relatively new format.
