Die Effektuierung der Pariser Klimaziele durch NDCs und Klimaklagen

Description
How can the goals of the Paris Agreement become legally effective – despite the absence of traditional enforcement mechanisms? This study demonstrates how the Paris Agreement, nationally determined contributions (NDCs) and climate litigation interact to create a dynamic of mutual reinforcement that helps drive compliance with the global temperature goal. Like a self-closing hinge, this interaction helps sustain – and even intensify – the momentum for increasing ambition. Through treaty interpretation, comparative analysis of major NDCs, and a systematic review of national court decisions, the work offers fresh insights into the legal effectiveness of international environmental law.
