Description
Man has never been satisfied with his naked reality. He has always endeavoured to shape his own true face. The author critically analyses twelve important and historically significant attempts.
In doing so, he follows a leitmotif, namely that people have determined their own position in the world since the beginning by assuming a higher power, inventing God and gods. Fundamental questions such as being and nothingness, temporality and mortality, good and evil, human reason and a successful life have always been closely linked to the relationship between man and God as it was believed at the time.
