Die Europäische Union und ihre östlichen Nachbarn

If the West conducts a form of foreign policy towards the East which attempts to suppress Russia's interests in its former sphere of influence, it runs the risk of failing to establish lasting peace on our continent as Eastern European countries that are interested in stable cooperation with the European Union will then come into conflict with Russia. The failure of the EU to establish close economic ties with Armenia has highlighted the urgent need for the EU to engage in open dialogue with Russia.
This study focuses on such a dialogue and is supplemented with insightful closing remarks by Günter Verheugen, the former vice president of the European Commission, and a range of important basic facts about Armenia.
