How free is childhood? This book reveals how social power structures influence childhood and early education. It explores adultism, a deeply rooted pattern of discrimination against children in our society, and examines how the neoliberal agenda is shaping the 'entrepreneurial child' within the daycare system. In doing so, it exposes how market logics and social hierarchies turn children into objects of political and economic interest. The authors are researchers in critical social pedagogy who work in early childhood education and youth social work.
