Die kunstpädagogische Konzeption am Barkenhoff, Worpswede

The history of a lost collection of workers' children's drawings from the 1920s and the work of the educators associated with them are the focus of this book. The children, who were severely impaired both physically and psychologically, were sent to the Barkenhoff for recreation and were lifted out of their social misery for a short time. The graphic as well as linguistic expressions of the children, which were created during this time, reveal a blunt and concrete representation of their own living environment. The children's drawings, through their pictorial motifs as well as the accompanying written elements, have become valuable historical documents that preserve the memories of past generations.
