This book takes up the observation method as a survey instrument of interdisciplinary branches of science in order to adapt it for social work. It is dedicated to both self-criticism regarding the dangers of observational attributions and the potential for applied and practical social work. The framework ranges from the forthcoming observation to be carried out to the completed observation. It includes preparatory and reflective reflections, descriptions of types of observation and the evaluation of the results.
The appendix contains many practical examples, which offer much of the theory mentioned in the previous section in a vividly illustrative way, thereby providing patterns of action that enable a practical implementation of the observation method. This makes the publication ideal for students and practitioners in social work, while at the same time lecturers can offer comprehensible written research instructions.
