Description
The book unfolds Heidegger's late thinking as an artistic practice of thinking speech with a view on its central concept of naming as calling into words. With this concept, Heidegger develops a fundamental insight into what he calls the “naming power of the word”. It refers to a use of words that is prior to their syntacto-semantically distinguishable use as names or predicates in full sentences, whereby words reveal their possibility to evoke situations or aspects of the world holistically. The paradigm of the declarative sentence, typical of the main line of Western linguistic thought, is abandoned in favor of a creative reflection on language that is particularly evident in Hölderlin's late lyrical work.
