Die neue Macht von Individuen in der globalen Politik

Individuals have new power in global politics. Philanthropists leading global foundations are the most apparent example. But sometimes also celebrities and social entrepreneurs achieve to initiate change.
This study, first, carves out the specifics of these three actor types. Second, it takes up the central topos of power and shows that individuals’ power has increased especially by combining ‘power over’ (coercion and manipulation) with ‘power with’ (cooperation and learning). Third, the study critically discusses the legitimacy of the individuals’ power.
Empirical case studies are Bono and Heike Makatsch (celebrities), Bill Gates and Michael Otto (philanthropists) und Muhammad Yunus and Mathis Wackernagel (social entrepreneurs).
