What medium and long-term biographical opportunities arise for foster children through the influence of their foster parents? This volume examines ways of dealing with competition with parents of origin, the endurance of paradoxes and the experimental nature of foster family relationships. The research results presented are based on fundamental research into the biographical life courses of foster children, with case reconstructions of former foster children, foster parents and sometimes parents of origin serving as the data basis for the studies. The design of a relationship triangle between families of origin and foster families as well as the development of resilience in foster children are a particular focus.
