Die Politische Ökonomie des Steuerstaates in Rentengesellschaften

Latin American societies have historically been characterised by obscene inequality and have been repeatedly rocked by severe financial crises. Taking Argentina as an example, this book explores the systematic reasons for the abandonment of targeted taxation of wealth by Latin American governments of the so-called pink tide. With its approach to a materialist state based on rent theory and using social theory of the tax state, the book offers a new contribution to the debate on statehood, fiscality, tax policy and wealth taxation in the global South.
