In the German legal advisory system, there is often talk of a “legal advisory monopoly”. This term refers to the legally privileged position of the legal profession in providing legal advice. At the same time, non-lawyer actors such as chambers of crafts also appear on the legal advice market, providing advice on various legal topics, particularly to their members. Against this background, Mina Bettinghausen examines the admissibility and limits of out-of-court legal advice provided by chambers of crafts. For the first time, she also considers the (historical) role of the legal profession in the legal advice market.
