Description
Company pension schemes will become icreasingly important in the German pension system in the future. In order to strengthen company pension law, defined contribution plans were introduced as a further type of commitment with effect from January 1, 2018. In contrast to the established definded benefit plans, employers in this model do not commit making pension payments, but only to making contribution payments in the savings phase. The beneficiaries are to be protected by a mandatory collective legal structure. The author classifies the contribution payment risk, presents safeguards and discusses procedural peculiarities in the context of collective bargaining structure.
