Die Strafbarkeit der wettbezogenen Manipulation sportlicher Wettbewerbe nach § 265c StGB

The dissertation relates current manipulation practices to the criminal offence of sports betting fraud. In addition to the perpetrators and the specific matches manipulated, the author also describes how betting-related manipulation of sporting competitions works. In doing so, he discusses the latest strategies of match-fixers both in the bribery of participants in competitions and in the placement of bets. On the basis of this empirical investigation, the elements of the offence under Section 265c StGB are meticulously analysed. To this end, the offence is applied to case examples from manipulation practice in order to finally be able to check whether the scope of criminal liability corresponds to the legislator's intentions.
