Die Thun-Hohenstein'schen Reformen und die Aufwertung des Römischen Rechts als universitäres Unterrichtsfach

The articles in this volume look at the legal academic reform of the Minister of Education Leo von Thun-Hohenstein from two perspectives: Firstly, the implementation of Thun's study reform at the universities outside Vienna in the crown lands will be considered. In particular, the universities in Galicia, which switched to teaching in Polish in the second half of the 19th century, will also be considered.
Secondly, the importance of Roman law in Thun's conception. Roman law played a key role in his educational concepts. Some of the articles in this volume take a closer look at the high esteem in which Roman law was held by the reformers around Thun: What was the basis for the high prestige of Roman law as the decisive vehicle to a sufficiently theoretically and methodologically sound jurisprudence?
