Description
Hölderlin's texts are conceived as a poetic and political revolution of language based on personal hardship and social disparities. This anthology examines this revolution of language with regard to Hölderlin's two stays in Bad Homburg from 1798–1800 and 1804–1806. In addition to the novel Hyperion and the drama Empedocles, Hölderlin's late poems written before his involuntary internment in Tübingen also come into focus. They reveal a study on language that has remained decisive for the understanding of Hölderlin's poetry as a paradigm of modernism to this day.
