Description
This book is dedicated to the forgotten intellectual Léo Wanner, who intervened in the political landscape in the 1920s and 1930s with public statements and strategic ingenuity. Based on historical sources that were opend up for the first time, the diverse role repertoire of this globally active woman is illuminated: She was a mediator between the middle classes and the working classes, the women's movement and parliamentary institutions as well as between the "hereditary enemies" Germany and France. She mediated between Orient and Occident and was the founder of a French-Muslim dialogue. The book provides new insights into female intervention strategies and scope for action in the interwar period.
