Description
‘Dieselgate’ is certainly one of the biggest scandals in recent economic history. Courts around the world have been busy with pertinent litigation and continue to do so. This study examines its consequences under Italian private law, taking the specific perspective of a German court dealing with the matter. Of central importance is the question of whether and to what extent a manufacturer can be held liable for pure economic losses on a delictual basis and, in particular, whether the consumer's right to self-determination can be invoked for this purpose.
The author teaches civil law, private international law and comparative law at the University of Konstanz. One of his main areas of research is Italian law.
