In the digital age, consumers are increasingly rely on smart, digital assistants for their private consumption decisions. In a consumer protection law perspective, this leads to considerable challenges: The changed conditions of socio-technical interactions and reduced participation in decision-making processes call existing protection concepts into question; at the same time, new dangers arise for consumers. What does this mean for consumer protection law? In order to answer this question, in the course of a comprehensive analysis of the technical and legal framework conditions for the use of digital assistance systems the author identifies possible development potential for a digital consumer protection de lege ferenda.
