Details
The digital revolution is changing the future of the health-related self-help movement on different levels between self-help groups, regional institutions that promote self-help activities and political self-help organisations. This study discusses the effects of, the risks posed by and the opportunities offered by public promotion of digital self-help dynamics in the context of § 20h of the German Civil Code, Book V. With reference to critical theory, the analysis explains the possible character of the self-help movement as a moral economy of mutual solidarity on the transformational pathway to digital social services, which is related to the passive patterns of utilisation by consumers not involved in real activities connected with the solidarity of mutual caring according to the logic of reciprocity.
