Description
The 3rd, completely updated and expanded edition of this book provides an overview of systematic categories of drama analysis. Its introduction links the history of forms of drama with an overview of key stages in drama research, presenting the most important theories of drama from Aristotle to Brecht. Six individual analyses of canonical plays from the 18th century to the present day demonstrate the effectiveness of the categories presented. The analysis incorporates structuralist and semiotic aspects with regard to theatricality, as well as questions from cultural studies. The book is aimed at students of (German) literary studies and is also suitable for practical teaching.
