Description
This book will – in intelligible and explanatory language – introduce first-semester students to the science of social work. It will answer basic questions concerning the profession and the scientific discipline as well as about its identity-building ‘core’. Various exercises and further targeted literature will stimulate self-study.
The curriculum presented in the book was developed and successfully executed together with students at two universities where the authors offered an introduction to the fundamentals of social work during lectures, tutorials and seminars. Each of the chapters covers the content of a two-hour lecture. The chapters may be used as a basis for discussions in tutorials and for examinations.
