Empathische Ethik
Ein Entwurf für die Post-Corona-Zeit
Tectum, 1. Edition 2020, 126 Pages
Description
Something new is happening in ethical thinking, for which empathy is increasingly becoming the starting point. However, it is not yet entirely clear how this basic empathetic attitude is changing ethics and what kind of empathy is involved. In this respect, the point of departure for a form of empathy based on collective humanity can be understood quite differently than if one only considers empathy to be the act of adopting a more or less sensitive perspective. Along with a basic empathetic attitude, listening has become important in the process of ethical reflection. Moreover, underpinned by empathy, an awareness of vulnerability is influencing thinking about human rights, justice and participation. On the basis of these considerations, this book develops a blueprint for ethical thinking in the aftermath of the coronavirus.
