Description
As a result of the growing globalisation of business and education, practitioners and students have recognised the importance of understanding foreign law. The English common law presents a particular challenge, as it differs significantly from the legal traditions of continental Europe.
The 4th book in the Lingua Juris series provides lawyers at all levels with an accessible introduction to English law. The first part deals with the legal system, from the historical development of the common law to the modern court system. In the second part, key areas of English law, chosen for their relevance to practitioners and students alike, are introduced.
With terminology sections and study guides contained in each chapter, the book is ideal as a course text or for independent study.
The author holds degrees in both English and German law, and has lectured in English law at the University of Trier. She is currently completing her doctoral research at the University of Cambridge.
