Entspringen des Augenblicks

We know nothing but the present moment. Its ever-renewed emergence is our only unalienable experience. In it, the whole of reality presents itself in its interdependence, in the way a living being or a work of art do. In those, matter and meaning, appearance and inner experience are as intimately entangled as they are in the current instant. The artist and philosopher Johannes Oberthür puts our perception of a world in chronological order into perspective. In contrast, he develops an art-oriented phenomenology of unconditional appearance beyond causality and dualism. For Oberthür, reality is not a succession of events, but an unfolding without cause and thus ultimately a mystery—the “Urphänomen” that consists in the “clearing" of the world.
