Description
The formation of religious diaspora communities with a small number of members is a very topical phenomenon in the globalized world. To exemplify, Mirjam Iseli examines how a Jain community has formed in Switzerland over the past twenty years, and which negotiation processes this involved. Thus, a universal Jainism that encompasses all tendencies and is based on the pillars of vegetarianism, environmental protection and non-violence was established in Switzerland.
In addition to the community building process, the dissolution of the Swiss Jain community is also being examined. Thus, factors that can lead to the stagnation of community building processes in general are highlighted.
