Erziehung bei Hannah Arendt

What does Hannah Arendt understand by education? This foundational study examines her pedagogical writings for the first time from both historical and systematic perspectives. Drawing on archival material, it illuminates the contexts of their creation and challenges common assumptions. At the same time, Arendt’s approach becomes apparent: she combines traditional ideas of authority and responsibility in intergenerational relationships with natality and love for the world. This reveals her relational anthropology, the tensions between child and world, tradition and revolution, and the life-affirming stance that bases both her political and pedagogical theory. The study thus contributes to philosophy of education and Arendt scholarship.
