Europa 2024–2029

What guidelines will the EU follow in the next five years? This volume brings together contributions discussing foreseeable or desirable developments in EU law in the coming years. The articles cover a wide range of topics, from the reform of primary law to the European value system, the functioning of the institutions, individual policies, and external relations. They assemble are the presentations and oral proceedings of the 23rd Austrian European Law Day, which took place in Vienna on September 20 and 21, 2024, and whose guiding theme was “Europe 2024–2029: Guidelines for Law and Politics.” The theme was linked to the European Parliament elections in June 2024 and the associated reshuffle of the EU Commission, including the High Representative, in autumn 2024. The second and final term of office of the current President of the Permanent Council also expired at the end of November 2024.
