Description
The dissertation examines the conditions under which employees resort to self-endangering work behavior. Self-endangerment is a multifaceted and multi-causal phenomenon in the flexible world of work. The book questions the health-promoting perspective of work autonomy by examining the health effects of requirements for self-organization and working from home as key determinants of presenteeism, prolonged working hours, and burnout in the German federal administration. The work thus contributes to the ongoing discourse on the opportunities and risks of increased autonomy and self-responsibility, while also offering indications for the prevention of self-endangerment and burnout in the workplace.
