Description
Fractal narration refers to a narrative technique that is analogous to fractals and thus exhibits a significant narrative structure beneath a fractured text surface, characterized by, among other things, staggered repetition, fantastical, multiply fractured superimpositions, and self-potentiation. The present work focuses on Stockmann's novel ‚Der Fuchs‘, as fractal structures are both a motif and a technique in this work. The narrative, as a defense of the beauty of the “language of words,” exhibits a varied fractal narrative structure, thus contrasting with the inner-diegetic pursuit of the exact describability of reality – the “zero point”– by means of a “language of fractals.”
