Europe’s understanding of ‘security’ is undergoing profound changes. This volume examines how military, economic and societal security must be rethought and reorganised in the present day. It focuses on issues of strategic autonomy, economic resilience, technological dependencies and the protection of democratic order in times of global crisis. Particular attention is paid to Franco-German cooperation: What are the common interests, where are the differences, and how can bilateral cooperation strengthen the European security architecture? The volume combines historical analysis, political assessment and future perspectives to present a vision of Europe that is capable of action.
