Frankreich und Deutschland

This volume offers a comprehensive comparison of the growth models, economic problems and economic policy perspectives of France and Germany. In particular, the articles it contains highlight the different structural economic developments in the two countries and address questions of competitiveness and Germany’s high external surpluses as well as the structural reforms in France under President Macron. At the same time, the different economic policy views of the two countries are highlighted, which are also reflected in their positions on the reform and further development of the European Economic and Monetary Union. The book thus provides a guide to understanding the current controversies between the two countries and their causes. It shows the limits of Franco–German cooperation, but also explores opportunities for compromises and joint European initiatives.
