Franz Brentanos Philosophie

Franz Brentano was one of the greatest philosophers following Kant and the German idealists. Unlike them, he was a critical realist and rational metaphysician who focused strictly on concrete phenomena and scientific problems. In this way, he not only helped to overcome Kant’s sceptical critique of metaphysics and Hegel’s overly speculative thinking, but also paved the way for both analytical philosophy and phenomenology.
