Frieden durch Recht

The collection of articles in this volume is concerned with issues of international jurisdiction and law enforcement i.a. by international civilian police. This allows the authors to conclude with recommendations for the utilization of these instruments of legal protection and peaceful settlement of disputes.
Attention is given to the historical evolution of legal norms for the containment of war as well as the development of non-violent conflict resolution. Within the same context, the subject of international police forces is discussed as an alternative to militarised conflict resolution. Furthermore, international jurisdiction and the conditions for its successful realization are analyzed, taking into account its contribution to the protection of human rights and conflict termination.
Finally, an optimized model for securing peace through international jurisdiction and law enforcement is introduced.
