Frieden und Ruhe des Gemeinwesens bei Domingo de Soto
calcActive())">
Description
The Dominican theologian Domingo de Soto has remained largely and yet unjustly unknown in the field of peace ethics, as this study shows. De Soto was not only recognised as a brilliant intellectual and an extremely influential individual in social and political life in the 16th century, but his extensive literary oeuvre on legal theology, philosophy, sacramental theology and the key issues of his time was also, and to a large extent, jointly responsible for spreading the teachings of the School of Salamanca. This study examines de Soto’s collected works in order to reconstruct his conception of peace ethics from the many observations on war and peace that are scattered throughout his writings.
