In times of global and regional crises, social and (geo)political tensions, the accelerating climate crisis, and disruptive technological developments, law is increasingly being put to the test. In the face of multiple crises, it is no longer understood merely as a framework order, but increasingly as a mechanism for steering societal actors. At the same time, law is expected to safeguard liberal democracies, ensure technological progress, and enable social transformation without losing its defining contours. Therefore, the contributions to this conference volume address the question: What can, what may, and what should public law accomplish?
