This book deals with theoretical and empirical analysis, evaluation and further development of memorial sites for Nazi regime victims as educational institutions. It is based on institutional and principal-agent-theory and reflects on basic concepts (e.g. theories of role, motivation and education, Holocaust Education, research in educational governance, means-end-theory). It introduces a novel research paradigm as well as a theory-based and practice-oriented tool for the evaluation and the design of memorial sites which is scalable to all kinds of educational institutions. Characteristics are a high degree of analytical sophistication in theory and empirical investigation.
