Gegen die Weltordnung

Russia has gambled away its future with its war on Ukraine and is accelerating the trend towards a multipolar world order. Based on historical context, this book examines Russia's exceptional trajectory. We analyse the economic consequences of the war and the sanctions imposed on Russia and its business model, and outline development prospects for the country. Historical path dependencies, Russia’s focus on raw materials and its unfavourable demographic development are important reasons why the country has not succeeded in developing into an innovation-driven economy, which is now revealing its detrimental consequences under the sanctions regime. Therefore, the economic price Russia will pay for its imperialist aspirations is high.
