The coronavirus pandemic had a significant impact on amateur wind orchestras: rehearsals and concerts were canceled, social interactions shifted to chat groups and video conferencing, and music-making was largely confined to practicing at home or in small outdoor groups. The long-term effects of the coronavirus lockdowns on wind bands remain an open question even now, in the fall of 2024.
In this volume, representatives from the music club scene and other music education institutions explore how challenges and imbalances were addressed throughout the different phases of the pandemic and discuss how amateur wind orchestras can make a fresh start.
