George Harrison und die Komplementarität von »Ost« und »West«

This volume is dedicated to the question of how Indian culture is connected to George Harrison's music and biography. Is the inclusion of elements of Indian music in his songs merely a matter of orientalist colouring? Or is it the expression of a deeper transcultural Interest? As part of a biographical presentation, George Harrison's artistic activities and stages in his life are analysed and interpreted with regard to a possible complementarity of ‘East’ and ‘West’. Harrison's film productions are taken into account, as are his songs and his involvement with Hindu religious movements. The Beatle's biography is analysed here for the first time from a musicological perspective.
