Description
Gerhard Hessenberg, born in Frankfurt/M, active in Berlin, Bonn, Breslau and Tübingen, was a versatile mathematician. He made significant contributions mainly to differential geometry, to the fundamental questions of geometry, to set theory and to analysis, always with a special interest in questions of application. He was one of the founding members of the Berlin Mathematical Society. Despite his importance, his writings have not been collected until now; his essays on differential geometry are united here for the first time.
