Description
Ferdinand Ulrich is regarded as one of the most remarkable philosophers of the twentieth century. In contrast, the reception of his thought is still in its infancy. This volume, which also marks the launch of the series *Ferdinand Ulrich. Studies*, initiates a new engagement with Ulrich’s work. The philosophy of the gift – a subject that has been the subject of intense debate in theology and philosophy for many years and which was a central theme in Ulrich’s original philosophical research – is examined from various perspectives. Given the significance of the theme of the gift in Ulrich’s thought, this first volume also serves as an introduction and is therefore well-suited to providing a basic understanding of his complex body of work. At the same time, it becomes clear how Ulrich’s thought can be fruitfully applied to dialogue with various currents of contemporary thought.
