Description
This textbook provides a fundamental introduction to the history of Hungary from the founding of the state to the present day. The first main section recounts events, while the second section recounts structural developments. This approach breaks with the previous pattern of German-language histories of Hungary and enables participation in the research debate. Ten chapters present the main features of political, social and cultural history in a longitudinal perspective. The remaining five chapters provide a cross-sectional study of problematic features of Hungarian history in the European context. The volume is aimed at students of history and social sciences, especially those studying Eastern Europe, Eastern Central Europe and South-Eastern Europe, and anyone interested in Hungarology as an interdisciplinary regional science.
