With this study, Jennifer Reiff encourages us to critically question the gender culture in children's media and to find new ways of representation.
Based on the psychological and sociological foundations of interculturality research, the author examines selected sequences in children's audio books with a gender-sensitive perspective. The focus of her investigation is on the images conveyed of women, girls, men, boys and members of the LGBTQIA community. In doing so, the author clarifies the connection between culture, education and media and highlights the important role of children's audio books in the transmission of values in relation to gender culture.
