Gesellschaftlicher Wandel und kulturelle Innovationen

Can culture shape the future? This anthology, the result of a series of lectures at the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin in the winter semester of 2015/16, poses this question in a variety of contexts. Power and culture are two elements which through their interplay have not only influenced history but also mould our present.
Renowned authors use their expertise in science, economics, culture and politics to reveal the relationships between power and culture. They explain the reasons for present developments and deliberately draw attention to the various options open to us in shaping our future. What does cultural identity mean? What does cultural diversity mean? Do cultural developments and changes pose a threat to us or do they offer us opportunities? In their critical analyses, each of the authors comes to the same undeniable conclusion: that culture does indeed shape the future.
