Platform capitalism may be a very recent phenomenon globally, but its impact on the labour market is already serious: increasing precarisation is shaping working conditions. This is also the case in the delivery sector, where employees have been fighting for better working conditions since 2016.
In her empirical study based on labour revitalisation studies, Stephanie Albicker uses the example of Lieferando to investigate how and why employees in the sector organise themselves, what role trade unions play in this and what advantages and disadvantages grassroots democratic collectives offer. The results are highly relevant both for science and for trade union policy practice.
