Description
Economists have been studying subjective life satisfaction since the 1970s. In this context, not only has the relationship between economic growth and happiness in life been discussed, but also numerous other economic policy topics from the fields of labour market and social policy and inequality and consumer research. This book discusses these various fields of application with the help of survey data from the 'Glücksatlas' study, which has been interviewing almost 100,000 Germans about their life satisfaction for more than 15 years now. In addition, this book presents a history of modern economic happiness research, the origins of which are located in antiquity with Aristotle and Epicurus and not just in the classical utilitarianism of the 18th and 19th centuries.
