Kritische Untersuchungen zur Ethik Kants
Karl-Alber-Verlag, 1. Edition 2025, 136 Pages
Description
For Kant, autonomy is moral self-legislation. The legislator is the supra-individual reason common to all human beings. This concept has the strength of safeguarding the uniqueness of the moral phenomenon against all forms of the naturalistic fallacy, but on the other hand, it has the weakness of overtaxing our reason, as it is given to us in experience as a searching and error-prone reason. The reason that gives the law is different from the reason that recognizes it. Nevertheless, Kant's law-giving reason is not a phantom. Kant never demonstrated how both types of reason can be thought of together. Thinking inspired by value ethics and Christianity can provide an answer without falling back behind Kant into heteronomous ethics.
