At the latest since the remarkable decision of the Federal Court of Justice (Bundesgerichtshof) in the case of wenigermiete.de, so-called legal-tech debt collection services have moved into the public eye. It seems that the mass enforcement of customer rights by debt collection service providers via so-called online platforms only concerns legal issues: namely, the question of how far the authorization of debt collection service providers to render legal services extends according to the Legal Services Act (Rechtsdienstleistungsgesetz). In reality, the business models of legal-tech debt collection service providers have quickly surpassed the intention of the historical legislator and have permanently reshaped the market for legal services. This dissertation analyzes the limits set by professional and constitutional law to legal services rendered by debt collection service providers via so-called online platforms.
