Description
Greece’s anticipated participation in Stage Three of the European Economic and Monetary Union (EU) beginning on 01.01.2001 is a significant issue in the political agenda of the country’s administration. The starting point for this volume is the aspect that Greece can gain considerable profit from the German experience for its own course toward the EU.
Against this background, the work examines at the outset aspects of Greece’s nominal, real and legal convergence in an interdisciplinary and comparative setting; it further reviews the consequences of the introduction of the new currency for the Greek private sector; and, not least, it discusses the acceptance of the euro by citizens and consumers.
Selected Contributions:
Institutional Adaptation of the Bank of Greece with a View to Stage Three of EMU – A Case Study of Central Bank Independence (Mary Papaschinopoulou) • The Introduction of the Euro in an International Corporation – Lessons for Greek Companies (Philip Nölling) • Locational Policy in Greece and the Lack of (Real) Convergence (Reiner Martin)
n in English and German (with summaries in Greek).
